Biosafety Public Awareness, Education & Communication and Participation Training Workshop

The workshop was opened officially by Ms. BUSOKEYE M. Laetitia, the Director of Research, Planning and Development (DREPD) in REMA.
This workshop brings together invited participants from national stakeholder institutions:
•Ministries and public agencies: REMA, MOE, MINAGRI, MINICOM, MINECOFIN, MINISANTE, MINEDUC, MINALOC, RAB, RSB, RBC, RDB, RWFA,
•Academic, and Higher Learning Institutions: UR/College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (CAVEM), College of Science and Technology (CST), INES, University of Kigali;
•UN Agencies: UNDP, FAO
•NGOs: ARECO, ARCOS, ACNR, WCS and Other;
•Media people are also invited for their role to carry a balanced information
•The purpose of this workshop is to train stakeholders on Biosafety Public awareness, Public Education and Public Participation.
During this Workshop, a comprehensive Strategy and plan of action for implementation was presented as part of the Biosafety tools to contribute achieving the effective Public Awareness, Education and Participation in Rwanda.
Participants have played a participatory role required for the validation of this strategic plan. Inputs and recommendations are considered to improve the strategic plan.
The strategy and action plan for biosafety public awareness, education, communication and participation in Rwanda was prepared by Dr. Charles Mugoya, international consultant.
The Workshop has started at 8:30 in the morning and ended at 17:00 pm.
